Communication & Meetings

What the Fireflies connector can do

Fireflies records and transcribes calls, then makes the conversations searchable and easy to summarize. Linked to a type.com Space, it lets Claude query your meeting history through AskFred, cut short clips from a transcript, invite the Fireflies bot to a meeting already underway, and remove transcripts that should not be kept, so call knowledge reaches the whole team.

One connection, many Spaces

Connect Fireflies once, then decide which Spaces can use it in threads, skills, automations, and coding work.

What teams do with Fireflies in type.com

Ask what was decided

Start an AskFred thread about your meetings and follow up with more questions, so anyone can find decisions without rewatching calls.

Try asking
Ask Fireflies what pricing objections came up in last week's customer calls, then follow up on which accounts raised them.

Clip a customer quote

Turn a strong moment from a transcript into a short audio or video bite that product or marketing can share internally.

Try asking
Create a Fireflies bite from the Acme call where their ops lead describes the reporting problem, roughly 12:30 to 13:45.

Catch a meeting that started

If someone forgot to invite the notetaker, add the Fireflies bot to the live meeting from a thread so the call still gets recorded.

Try asking
Add Fireflies to the live meeting at this Zoom link so we get a transcript of the partner call.

Representative actions

  • Add to Live Meeting

Sends the Fireflies notetaker into a meeting in progress. A paid Fireflies plan is required.

  • Continue AskFred Thread

Asks a follow-up question inside an existing AskFred conversation about your meetings.

  • Create AskFred Thread

Opens a new AskFred conversation with a question about meeting transcripts and content.

  • Create Bite

Makes a short clip from a section of a transcript, for sharing a specific moment from a call.

  • Delete Transcript by ID

Permanently removes a transcript from Fireflies. This cannot be undone, so use it carefully.

Representative triggers

  • Transcription Complete Trigger

Triggers when a transcription is complete. Polls Fireflies API for transcripts created or updated since the last poll time. Handles rate limiting gracefully.

Connection

API and auth details

Fireflies provides a public GraphQL API authenticated with API keys from the Fireflies dashboard. The API focuses on users, meetings, transcripts, sentences, channels, sharing, and meeting-derived content, while the MCP documentation describes tools for searching, fetching, and managing meeting transcripts and related data.

FAQ

Questions people ask before connecting Fireflies

Can Claude answer questions about our Fireflies meetings?

Yes. With Fireflies shared to a type.com Space, Claude can open and continue AskFred threads to query your transcripts, then post the answers in the thread so the team sees the same summary.

How do I authenticate Fireflies in type.com?

Fireflies uses an API key from your Fireflies dashboard. You add it once to the connection, and admins choose which Spaces can use it. The key never needs to appear in a prompt.

Can the agent act when a transcript is ready?

Fireflies offers a transcription complete trigger in its integration listing. You can also schedule a type.com automation, such as a daily recap of yesterday's calls posted to a channel.

Is this the same as an MCP server for Fireflies?

Not exactly. type.com uses connectors and connections to give selected Spaces access to approved app tools and data. Some connectors use hosted MCP, while others use OAuth, API keys, service accounts, or custom APIs.
